Bridie Meehan – Registered Manager/Company Director

When Bridie’s mum became ill with cancer she noticed the lack of good quality ‘End of Life Care’. She explored the role of a Macmillan nurse but an opportunity came up in social care in 1982.

Along with her husband Phil she became a foster parent in 1984 and led a campaign for children’s rights. Bridie worked in a nursing home, then went onto Stockport M.B.C. specialising in the Physical and Sensory Disability Team.

In 1997 Bridie took redundancy and decided to start her own care agency, Quality Care of Cheadle, to prove that private care can still be good quality care.

Quality Care was the first agency in Stockport to be accredited with the excellent rating by the C.S.C.I. (now known as the Care Quality Commission).

Bridie was the first person in S.M.B.C. to achieve level 3 NVQ and went on to be a representative for NVQ candidates on the assessment board and succeeded in getting the NVQ papers written in plain English.

Bridie along with some Quality Care staff helped the Fire Service to create the first carer fire safety handbook for Stockport and was on the Safeguarding Adults board.

Bridie was on the Board for Stockport Care Training Partnership bringing a higher standard of training to the private sector and social services, to unite the services and ensure the same high standard of care throughout. Bridie works hard to raise the profile of the carer. She believes there is no such thing as just a carer.

Phil Meehan – Company Director

In 1984 Phil became a foster parent with his wife Bridie. Together they campaigned for children’s rights.

Phil started his career in health and social care in the voluntary sector in the early 1990’s. He worked as a support worker before completing his HND in Health and Social Care.

Phil set up Quality Care of Cheadle with Bride in 1997 as he wanted to set a high standard of care within the private sector. These days he focuses mainly on the administration, although Phil still very much enjoys doing support work in the community.

Phil is the Health and Safety officer.

Kristofer Travis – Office Manager

Kris is a father of one, born and bred in Stockport he has been working with Quality Care of Cheadle since 2010.

He joined our team as a carer and quickly progressed to our Intense Personal Care team. Kris gained his NVQ level III qualification with us and briefly left to try his hand at support work with children. During this time he remained on bank with us and gained a further QCF III Skills for Care qualification.

In 2013 Kris returned to Quality Care of Cheadle, full time, gaining promotion to office manager. He is currently working towards his NVQ level 5 – Registered Manager qualification.

Julie Sydenham – Administration

After having her children and a career break Julie came to work, part time, at a very new Quality Care of Cheadle in 1997. She was our first member of staff. Julie does various administration and accounting duties as well as being PA to Bridie. Julie has completed her NVQ in Business Studies, handles all the new business accounts and even does calls in the out in the community when required. Over the years she has built her hours and is now an important full time member of our office team.

Natalie Peters – Community Development Manager

Natalie came to work for Quality Care of Cheadle as a teenager, working whilst attending college. After a break working elsewhere in other sectors, Natalie returned in 2011 after starting a family. She has taken various roles within the company and helped to found Socially Yours, a not for profit social enterprise set up by Quality Care. Over the years, Socially Yours has grown more and more and now Natalie devotes most of her working day to the project.

Natalie is our in-house IT person, maintaining the website and controlling social media, taking Quality Care of Cheadle out into the community.
